Odds and Ends

A bit of what we've been up to - no theme,  or anything, just some fun.

As you already know we love Brazos Bend State Park.  We love any excuse to go.  A few weekends ago we thought we would enjoy some "cooler" weather (its a good thing we did - it's stinkin' hot now!)  We tried a new path, I was pleased that we got to see this huge gator enjoying the sun too.  We spent some time just watching him being so peaceful.  He would open his eyes and look at us, then close them again.  After a little while a huge and very loud group of people came down the path.  They thought the gator was neat too, but instead of respecting him, this obnoxious guy gets right next to the alligator, (like a foot away).  I've never heard an alligator make any noise, but this one did! It growled at the guy.  I took a picture hoping the alligator would actually bite him, but he fled instead.  Dang!

This is one of the flowers from one of the bushes out front.  I love the geometry of it.  I have no idea what kind of plant it is... maybe Heidi knows!

On mothers day I did another tri.  It was fun, fast and short! Yeah.  My bike was smokin' fast (for me at least).  I got a mug at the end (anyone else think that's kinda weird?) I guess that's what you give to moms on mothers day for an all girls race.  Actually, one of the best things about the mugs was seeing a man accidentally breaking his wife's mug...oops.  It's not like you're going to replace that.

Adorable x10!  First I got to see Ian's "Authors Tea and Mothers Day program"  All the kindergartners sang songs, it was enough to melt any heart!  Then the kids took their moms back to the class where they read their original stories! Ahhh, Ian was so precious - and I totally forgot the camera! At least I have the book he wrote!

Then Jason had his second grade musical.  The teachers, staff and students put some serious time and effort into this.  There was an amazing level of production value for a second grade play musical.  The songs were so good, and every kid really knew the words.  Jason had a speaking part, he was Chipmunk #2.  And he stole the show. Yes, I know I'm his mom and I'm obligated to say that, but it was true.  Let's face it, he has some preforming genes.  It also helped that he was a head shorter than everyone and naturally has a high little chipmunk voice (and you could understand him).  He was just so adorable. I'm not lying when I say I was on cloud nine!

What's next...
Coming to a blog near you - SUMMER!
